TU Dublin Athlete Support Programme

Athlete Support Programme – Application process opens February 1st 2021. Talented young sportspeople will be able to submit an online application for athlete support for the 2021-22 academic year.

The Athlete Support Programme is for students who wish to compete and succeed at the highest sporting level while simultaneously pursuing an academic programme at TU Dublin. Through the programme elite and high performance athletes are given the opportunity of developing their sporting career by offering the highest standards in sport service provision and academic mentoring support.

In order to be considered eligible for a place on the Athlete Support Programme applicants must fulfil the following criteria:

Students must meet the TU Dublin admission requirements through the CAO system and must enrol on a programme of academic study at the University.

Be of regional/county, national or international standard in your chosen sport

Commit to represent TU Dublin in the appropriate competitive pathway

A satisfactory level of academic and sporting progress is essential, if the scholarship is to be renewed on an annual basis. Sports Scholarships are intended for persons of outstanding sporting ability.

Elite Athlete Academic Entry Scheme

TU Dublin has put in place for all its Undergraduate Programmes an academic entrance route for elite sportspersons. In recognition of the competition and training commitments of aspiring elite athletes, successful applicants will be offered up to a maximum of 10% or 45 additional CAO points for admission to all University undergraduate programmes.

A limited number of places will be reserved for outstanding candidates who have achieved a very high level of sporting performance and who have identifiable potential for further improvement. 

A package of support services will be provided to students on entry to TU Dublin, which include access to strength and conditioning, academic mentoring support, physiotherapy, nutrition, performance skills workshops and high performance training facilities. Students may also be eligible for financial assistance.

Application criteria:

Applicants must be new entrants to TU Dublin

Applies to full-time undergraduate programmes only

All normal programme entry requirements must be met

Be competing in a sport that is recognised by Sport Ireland
