Quercus Sports Scholarship

QUERCUS SPORTS SCHOLARSHIPS

High performance sports scholarships are managed through the Quercus Talented Students’ Programme.  Please note that the closing date for Quercus scholarships is 4.30pm February 12th, 2021 and so that application process is now open for 2021/22. Quercus sports’ Scholarships can be worth up to €10,500 per year and full details on the criteria and benefits of Quercus Sports’ Scholarships can be found on www.ucc.ie/en/quercus

Munster Council GAA Bursary forms will be available from the Munster Council website.

GAA

UCC GAA Scholarship Criteria

  1. Inter-County representation at Pre-Entry Stage
  2. OR Selection for Senior Team Panel in Club or Inter-County Competition (U-21 or Minors)
  3. Succession Planning in Key Positions
  4. (Post-Entry) Recognition of Outstanding Impact, Progression and Compliance in Club.

 

Criteria for Awarding of Scholarships

  1. Re-Awards : Demonstrated progression within UCC Club, Compliance with scholarship programme, and Impact on programme
  2. Re-Awards: Addressing Inter-County Panel Members
  3. Re-Awards/New Awards: Top Level current starting Senior Players who may not have played representative
  4. New Awards: Admission to University College Cork
  5. New Awards: Top-Level of incoming fresher with representative honours

 

Interviews/Meetings: (post-application) Scholarship candidates meet with UCC GAA Development Officer and/or committee.

HOCKEY

UCC Hockey Programme Scholarship Criteria

  1. International/Provincial representation at Pre-Entry Stage

OR Selection for Senior Team Panel in Club or Inter-Provincial Competition

  1. Succession Planning (addressing current and future positional needs, mindful of the turnover in players)
  2. Addressing Depth of Key Specialized Positions (i.e. Goalkeepers)
  3. (Post-Entry) Recognition of Outstanding Impact, Progression and Compliance in Hockey Academy.

 

Criteria for Awarding of Scholarships

  1. Re-Awards : Demonstrated progression within UCC Senior team, Compliance with scholarship programme, and Impact on hockey programme
  2. Re-Awards: Addressing International Panel Members
  3. Re-Awards: Addressing Interprovincial Panel Members
  4. Re-Awards/New Awards: Top level current starting Senior Players who may not have played representative
  5. New Awards: Admission to University College Cork
  6. New Awards: Top level of incoming fresher with representative honours (Irish Schools Starting Player)
  7. New Awards: Irish Schools fringe player /Munster Schools player
  8. New Awards: Irish Youth (Club)/ Munster Youth

UCC Rugby Scholarship Criteria

  2. OR Senior Cup Team Starting Player in Provincial Cup Competition
  3. Succession Planning
  4. Addressing Depth of Key Specialized Positions
  5. (Post-Entry) Recognition of Outstanding Impact, Progression and Compliance in Fresher Year.

 

Criteria for Awarding of Scholarships

  1. Re-Awards : Demonstrated progression to UCC Senior team, Compliance with player development programmes, and impact on programme
  2. Re-Awards/New Awards: Current Students playing Senior level who have played Irish U-20 or Irish U19, Irish Universities, or Club International
  3. Re-Awards/New Awards: Top Level current starting Senior Players who may not have played representative
  4. New Awards: Admission to University College Cork
  5. New Awards: Top-Level of incoming fresher with representative honours (Irish Schools Starting Player)
  6. New Awards: Irish Schools fringe player /Munster Schools player
  7. New Awards: Irish Youth (Club)/ Munster Youth
  8. New Awards: Irish Ladies Full International

UCC Soccer Scholarship Criteria

  1. International/Provincial representation at Pre-Entry Stage
  2. Players that were involved in a League of Ireland club or returned to Ireland from a professional team abroad.
  3. Players that excelled at their local club level.
  4. League representative honours
  5. Succession Planning (addressing current and future positional needs, mindful of the turnover in players)
  6. Addressing Depth of Key Specialized Positions (i.e. Goalkeepers)
  7. (Post-Entry) Recognition of Outstanding Impact, Progression and leadership.

 

Criteria for Awarding of Scholarships

  1. Re-Awards : Demonstrated progression within UCC Senior team, Compliance with scholarship programme, and Impact on soccer programme
  2. Re-Awards: Addressing International Panel Members
  3. Re-Awards: Addressing Interprovincial Panel Members
  4. Re-Awards/New Awards: Top Level current starting Senior Players who may not have played representative
  5. New Awards: Admission to University College Cork
  1. New Awards: Top-Level of incoming fresher with representative honours (Irish Schools, Full Irish Team, Starting Player, League representation, Emerging Talent Program players )
  2. New Awards: Irish Schools fringe player / Interprovincial Schools player
